Spott Teaches Paralegals On LIne

PDF Print

Attorney Patrick Spott has designed and is teaching an on line course in debtor/creditor relations for the University of Wisconsin Superior during the Summer 2011 semester.  Spott is an adjunct faculty member for the University and teaches in the Legal Studies Program.  He was the first faculty member to design and teach an on line course in Legal Studies at the University.  This current on line offering is the fourth he has designed and taught.

Graduates of the Legal Studies Program learn about the philosophical, ethical, political, sociological, historical and practical dimensions of law, particularly within the American model but also somewhat in the global domain. Students explore the dominant and alternative paradigms to dispute resolution that exist, including the adversarial assumption, mediation and other forms of conflict resolution. They also have exposure to substantive areas of law, such as contracts, real property, personal injury litigation, family law, and gain an understanding of legal procedures in civil or criminal contexts.

This program offers coursework in law-related topics involving diversity issues, multicultural concerns and international contexts. It also explores the governmental and organizational structures within which law operates.  Many Legal Studies majors pursue a Paralegal Certificate in conjunction with their program course work.
